  1. MESSAGE: LOVE LIFE & SEE GOOD DAYS

  2. 1 PETER 3:8 (NLT) Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters.Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude.

  3. TEXT : 1 PETER 3:10-12 (NKJV) 10For "He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit. 11 Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it. 12 For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil."

  4. Psalms 34:12-16 12Who is the man who desires life, And loves many days, that he may see good?13Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit.14 Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. 15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry.16 The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

  5. 6 Commands or keys to love (enjoy) life and see good days: 1. Let him refrain his tongue from evil. Refrain- stop oneself from doing something.

  6. James’ illustrations to show the power of the tongue. A. The tongue has power to direct.

  7. James 3:3-4(ESV) 3If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well.  4Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. 5 So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things.

  8. B. The tongue has power to destroy. James 3:5-8(ESV) 5So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!

  9. 6And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. 7For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, 8but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

  10. “The tongue has no bones but is strong enough to break a heart. So be careful with your words” Proverbs 15:1 (NKJV) “A soft answers turns away wrath, but harsh word stirs up anger”

  11. Proverbs 12:18 (ESV) There is one whose rash words are like sword thrust, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

  12. Romans 6:13 (NLT) Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.

  13. 6 Commands or keys to love (enjoy) life and see good days: 2. Let him keep his lips from speaking deceit. Deceit - the action or practice of deceiving someone by concealing or misrepresenting the truth.

  14. 1 Peter 2:1,21,22 (NKJV) 1Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, 21For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: 22“Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”

  15. 6 Commands or keys to love (enjoy) life and see good days: 3. Let him turn away from evil.

  16. Proverbs 4:27 (NKJV) Do not turn to the right nor to the left; Turn your foot from evil. Jeremiah 25:5 (NKJV) Saying, 'Turn now everyone from his evil way and from the evil of your deeds, and dwell on the land which the LORD has given to you and your forefathers forever and ever;

  17. Proverbs 3:7 (NKJV) - Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. Proverbs 6:17 (NLT) The highway of the upright is to depart from evil; He who keeps his way preserves his soul.

  18. 6 Commands or keys to love (enjoy) life and see good days: 4. Let him do good.

  19. Romans 16:19 (NKJV) For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil. Hebrews 13:16 (NKJV) But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

  20. Galatians 6:9 (NKJV) 9And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.  10Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

  21. 6 Commands or keys to love (enjoy) life and see good days: 5. Let him seek peace.

  22. Matthew 5:9 (NKJV) • Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. • Romans 12:18 (NKJV) • If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.

  23. 2 Corinthians 3:11 (NKJV) • For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious.

  24. 6 Commands or keys to love (enjoy) life and see good days: 6. Let him pursue peace.

  25. Ephesians 2:14 (NLT) For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us.

  26. Matthew 5:23-24 (NKJV) 23Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,  24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

  27. 6and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,  7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

  28. THE LOGIC OF KEEPING THE COMMANDS A. The eyes of the Lord Are on the Righteous – God’s eyes are on you. Proverbs 5:21 (NKJV) For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, And He ponders all his paths.

  29. 2 Chronicles 16:9 (NKJV) For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him…

  30. THE LOGIC OF KEEPING THE COMMANDS B. His ears are open to their prayers. Proverbs 5:21 (NKJV) For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, And He ponders all his paths.

  31. James 5:16(NKJV) Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Proverbs 15:8 (ERV) TheLord hates the offerings of the wicked, but he is happy to hear the prayers of those who live right.

  32. Proverbs 15:29 (NKJV) TheLordis far from the wicked, But He hears the prayer of the righteous.

  33. THE LOGIC OF KEEPING THE COMMANDS C. The face of the LORD is against those who do evil.

  34. 1 Peter 3:9 (NKJV) Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing.

  35. Conclusion: Life is what it is intended to be when we  "fear God and keep His commandments!"

  36. Closing Verses: Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (ESV) 13The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.  14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.
