  3. Our Vision for Campus(what can we be?) • Graduation rate of 90% by 2014. • Meet AYP in reading, writing and math. (Reading – 90.7%, Math 88.2% for “11-12”) • Meet Standard of Excellence in reading and math. • Average score of 23 on ACT. • Provide a safe, nurturing environment for our students.

  11. CHS MISSION STATEMENT The mission of Campus High School is to prepare students to be life-long learners and responsible contributing citizens in a changing world.

  12. A Year of Challenges • For many students, this will be their most challenging year of high school. • They are on the race to the finish – their last 18 months of high school. • Home and School need to work together to keep them on track.

  13. Graduation Requirements 4 English 3 Mathematics 3 Science 3 Social Studies 1 Physical Education 1 Fine Arts 10 Electives 25 Total Credits

Pre-College Curriculum for Qualified Admissions • 4 English (11 & 12 College Bound or Honors) • 3 Math (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II) • 3 Science (Biology, Chemistry or Physics, 1 credit science elective ) • 3 Social Studies • 1 Fine Arts • 1 Physical Education • 10 Electives - 1 Computer Technology (no longer required but Highly Recommended)

  15. Qualified Admissions Options • Above curriculum with GPA of 2.0 or 21 ACT • or Upper 1/3 of graduating class • Complete 24 credits at a community college & be at least 21 years old

Kansas Scholars CurriculumRequired for State Sponsored Scholarship Program • 4 English (11 & 12 College Bound or Above) • 4 Math ( Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry or AP Statistics) • 3 Science ( Biology, Chemistry, Physics ) • 3 Social Studies • 1 Fine Arts • 1 Physical Education • 2 Units of the SAME Foreign Language • 7 Electives - 1 Computer Technology (no longer required but Highly Recommended) Must also demonstrate financial need for State Scholarship

Why Take Honors / AP Courses ? • Honors & AP Courses provide the rigor found in the college environment. • Students are better prepared to be successful when they reach college. • Students that take AP Courses in High School are more likely to graduate from college in 4 years. • Colleges consider the experience of an Honors / AP Course favorable for scholarship consideration. • Students can earn college credit for $87

  18. Campus High Tutoring Program • Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday • 3:00 to 3:50 in room C16 • Prior arrangements not required • Help available in all core subjects (Math, Science, English & Social Studies) • Generally at least 3 teachers

  19. Credit Recovery • 2011-12 Schedule – Required classes worked back into schedule as much as possible. • Summer School 2012 – Make up core credits failed. • Credit Recovery- Night School - Make up core credits failed, $150 per ½ credit. • PASS Program – Elective credits, $70 per ½ credit.

Important Events for Juniors All School Test Day - September 22 • Juniors take a Practice ACT Test PSAT Test – October 12th • Qualifying Test for the National Merit Scholarship Competition • Sign up in the CHS Counseling Office by Oct 7, cost $14 Future Fair @ Century II • November 8 : 9 am to 2:30pm

  21. Important Events for Juniors State Assessments: • Math & Reading • MAP Tests, Formative Assessments, Interventions: Tier II Math & Reading • Reading & Math Assessments: Fall &/or Spring

  22. WHAT CAN YOUR STUDENT ACCOMPLISH THIS YEAR? • Academic Success and Community Involvement. • Create an activities chart. • Research post high school options, decide what is best for them, make a plan and make it happen.

  23. WHAT CAN YOUR STUDENT ACCOMPLISH THIS YEAR? • Take an ACT Test • get a score on file, retake it for a higher score. • CHS is a test site for all 6 national test dates • Cost is $34 • THE SENIOR YEAR IS TOO LATE FOR SCHOLARSHIP PRIORITY DEADLINES!
