  2. Curator’s Office Mrs. Barker Mrs. Barker has been the Media Specialist at River Ridge Elementary since its opening in 1997. She also directs the Morning Show and is the school’s Web Master.   8. Cleopatra VII, Queen of Egypt Cleopatra VII (7th) was a great pharaoh. She was born in 69 BC (before Christ). Cleopatra died August 12, 30 BC at 39 years old. Cleopatra’s family members were Ptolemy XI (dad), and Ptolemy XII (younger brother), Ptolemy XII (youngest brother).When Cleopatra was young she wished she could understand another language. She did later understand another language. She was born into the royal family, but she was really Greek. When Cleopatra was an adult she married her brother (Ptolemy XII), at 17 years old. Cleopatra’s major accomplishment was becoming pharaoh at 18 years old, and defeating Actium. By Molly Reagan & Adolya Return to Exhibit

  9. Robert E. Lee Robert E. Lee did many great things in his life. He was born on January 19, 1807. He lived in West Moorland County, Virginia. His family was his wife and 7 children. He was the son of Henry and Ann Hill Lee. In his early life, he hated slavery but he loved his country. He also graduated second in class of U.S military academy. In his adult life he became very smart. He was a General in the Civil War, and joined the confederacy. He was also in the Mexican war. He worked on maps. His major accomplishments were as the Commander of the Confederacy’s troops. He died on October 12, 1870. By Jefferson & Lyrical Return to Exhibit

  10. Roald Dahl Roald Dahl was an extraordinary author. He was born in September 13, 1938. Roald married Patricia but divorced her. After that, he married Felicity Crossland. They had 4 daughters and 1 son. In his early life, his father died when he was 4 years old. His education was in British schools. His father was a shipbuilder. In his adult life, he joined the royal air force. He was a fighter pilot. His major accomplishment was that he wrote his first children’s book in 1943. His books were sold all over America.   11. Theodore Seuss Geisel / Dr. Seuss Dr. Seuss was a famous author for kids. His real name was Theodore Geisel. Theodore Geisel was born in March 2, 1904, in Springfield, Massachusetts. Dr. Seuss’s wife was named Helen Palmer, but a couple years later she died. Then he married Audrey Stone Diamond. In Theodore Geisel’s early life, he liked to draw funny pictures. He went to New Hampshire and then to England for college and became Dr. Seuss. When Geisel was traveling on a ship in 1936, he made his first book. He made the Cat in the Hat with only the words he was given. Seuss also wrote the famous Green Eggs and Ham book, only using 50 words he was also given. He wrote 47 books in all and died in 1991.   12. Albert Einstein Albert Einstein was an extremely intelligent man who was famous for his studies in math and science. He was born in Ulm, Germany on March 14, 1879. He married Milena Manic on January 1, 1903. His major accomplishment was creating the base for an extremely high powered bomb that was used in World War 2.   13. Theodore Seuss Geisel / Dr. Seuss Dr. Seuss had many major accomplishments. One was being a very famous children’s book author. Theodore Geisel, otherwise known as Dr. Seuss, was born in 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Dr. Seuss married Helen Palmer in 1927. She died in 1976. Dr. Seuss then married Audrey Stone Diamond. Dr. Seuss graduated from Dartmouth College in 1925. He died September 24, 1925 in LA Jolla, California.   14. William Shakespeare William Shakespeare was a brilliant writer. He was born on April 26, 1564 in Stratford, England and died on April 23, 1616. His family included John Shakespeare, Mary Shakespeare, Anne Hathaway, Susanna Hall, Hammet Shakespeare, and Judith Quionoy. He acted with The King’s Men. His father was a leather merchant. William Shakespeare was a British playwright poet and actor. Shakespeare wrote tragicomedies, comedies, tragedies, and sonnets. Shakespeare was one of the best English poets.   15. Cleopatra VII, Queen of Egypt Cleopatra VII was the Queen of Egypt. She was part of the Ptolemaic family. In her early life, she got married at the age of 17. In her Adult life, she married her brother and then he accidentally drowned in the Nile River. Then she married her younger brother.   16. Albert Einstein Albert Einstein was a smart guy. He was born on March 14, 1879 in Germany and died on April 18, 1955 in the U.S.A. Albert Einstein lived as a boy in Munich, Germany and graduated in Switzerland in 1900. He then became a Swiss citizen in 1902 and he was an examiner. He married Mileva Marie on January 6, 1903. They divorced on February 14, 1919. His major accomplishment was to win international fame in 1913 and be invited to the Prussian Academy. By Patrik & Benjamin Return to Exhibit

  17. Elizabeth I, Queen of England Queen Elizabeth I was born in the year of 1533, in England and died in the year of 1603. Her family members were Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn, Edward VI, and Mary I. Elizabeth’s early life was taking success to the throne, but later she was imprisoned. Elizabeth succeeded her sister to the throne. She was about forty-five years old when she died, and she was a really good queen. Her major accomplishments were that she reestablished Protestantism and concluded a treaty ending her sister’s war.   18. Benjamin Franklin Benjamin Franklin was born in Massachusetts in 1706. His father was a soup and candle maker. Benjamin Franklin was a scientist, politician, and he invented many things.   19. Henry Ford Henry Ford was born in Dearborn on July 30, 1863. His early life was that he didn’t want to follow his father’s footsteps. So he went to Detroit, at age sixteen to become a mechanic. In his adult life he gave his company to his grandson, Henry Ford second. Henry Ford made a Ford Hospital and donated. He made the Model-T in 1908. In 1910, Ford sold 730,000 Model –T’s.   20. Judy Blume Judy Blume was born on Febuary12, 1938 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Judy married John Blume. When Judy was little her father went to work while her mother stayed home with Judy and her older brother. She stayed home in her younger ages, reading, dancing, and roller skating. She made up stories in her head as a fun, imaginative, way of thinking. When she was 30 she published her first book. Quickly her novels got popular. They were funny and explaining things without talking down. Judy had a thing for writing based on her life, with a passion for realistic. Judy’s books have 80 million copies.   21. George Washington Carver George Washington Carver was born in 1860. He became a slave in 1864 and worked for a plantation owner in Diamond Grove, Missouri. His family was his Mom, Dad, and Grandfather. He found 300 ways to use peanuts. He discovered uses for peanuts, sweet potatoes, and soybeans. By Noah and Aidan Return to Exhibit

  22. The Wright Brothers The Wright brothers made a great team. Wilbur was born in 1867. Orville was born in 1871. Neither had children or got married. Their dad was a priest. They went to high school together and got interested in flying in college. Orville built a plain for the U.S. army. In 1903, on December 17 at Kitty Hawk they had the first power airplane flight. Benjamin Franklin Benjamin Franklin was born on January 17, 1766 in Boston Massachusetts U.S.A. and died on April 17, 1790.His wife’s name was Deborah and his kids were Francis, Sally, and William. Franklin’s early life was he left school at age 10 to help his dad at work. Benjamin learned to print and was in the publishing business. In his adult life he was a scientist, inventor, printer, state man and philosopher. Franklin’s major accomplishments were that he invented the lighting rod, bifocal glasses, and a glass harmonica.   24. Thomas Alva Edison Thomas Alva Edison was born on February 11, 1847 in Millan, Ohio. Thomas Edison died on October 18, 1931. His family was his wife Mina Miller his kids Madeline, Theodor, Charles, Marion, Thomas, and William. Thomas’s ex-wife was Mary Stillwell. Thomas Edison only had three months of school. In 1868, he designed a machine to record votes. Edison’s greatest invention was the electric light bulb in 1879 and he developed a system to carry electricity homes.   25. Catherine II, Empress of Russia Catherine II was an Empress of Russia. Some of her family members are Christian Augustus, Czarina Elizabeth, Czar Peter III. In Catherine’s early life she changed her name. Later she moved from Germany to Russia. After a while she got married. Soon after Catherine’s husband was murdered. In Catherine’s Adult life she was in the American Revolution. She also wrote memoirs and comedies. She influenced European affairs. Some of her major accomplishments are she became a Russian Empress.   26. Malcolm X Malcom X was born May 19, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska. When Malcom was little he was born to eight children to Earl and Louise. In 1925 the Klu Klux Klan (KKK) attacked his home. Malcom X got married to Betty Shabazz in 1958. He had six daughters. He had no formal education beyond eighth grade. Malcom X became involved in a life of crime. He was a civil rights activist.   27. The Wright Brothers The Wright Brothers, Wilbur and Orville learned to design and build printing presses and bicycles. Both brothers received a high school education. Neither brother was ever married. Orville loved to dream about ideas. They want to create a machine that flew in the air. First they found a lightweight engine.   28. William Shakespeare William Shakespeare was born on April 23, 1564. He married Anne Hathaway. Shakespeare had 2 older sisters and 3 younger brothers. Shakespeare was a poet, a British playwright and an actor. By 1597 he wrote 15 plays. By Kyira & Gabrial Return to Exhibit

  29. Phillip II, King of Spain Philip II, king of Spain was born in Spain in 1527. Some people in his family are his wife Queen Mary, his son Don Carlos, and his daughter Isabella. He was a Roman Catholic. His first wife died in 1545, and he got remarried three more times. He became a king in 1556. He fought in wars. He died in 1598. By David & Braniya Return to Entrance

  30. Beatrix Potter Beatrix Potter born July 28, 1866 in the United Kingdom. She has one younger brother. Beatrix had lots of pets like kittens, rabbits, bats, mice, guinea pigs, frogs, and more. She was homeschooled. She married William Heelis in 1913. She was very popular for her great books. Her most famous books were about Peter Rabbit. Her last book was in 1930.   31. Victoria, Queen of Great Britain Victoria Queen of Great Britain was born 1819. Her dad a duke named Edward died before she was even one. When she was 18 she became Queen. In 1840 she married her first cousin, Prince Albert. They had nine children. She was an enormously popular Queen. She was queen for 60 years. It was the longest English reign. She tied Russia, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Romania, and several Germany states together with her children’s marriages. She died in 1901. By Azlyn & Kai Return to Entrance
