4. Location The Witkowo commune is situated in Wielkopolsko-Kujawskie Lake District, in Gniezno’s administrative unit, in Wielkopolska Province. It is easy to get to superhighway, A2 Berlin-Poznań-Warszawa, from here.

5. Administrative division The commune consists of Witkowo town and 26 villages.

8. Commune Resources In the commune there are a lots of monuments, mainly architectural, which are certificate of the past and rich tradition. Among them there are many churches, palaces and manors that are surrounded by old parks.

9. Wiktowo – what is worth seeing? In the central point of the town there is St. Nicolas Church, which was built in 1840.

10. Wiktowo – what is worth seeing? Walking down the streets of Witkowo we can admire elevations of old tenements, which were built at the turn of XIX and XX century.

15. Wiktowo – what is worth seeing? Part of the Witkowo commune – 4.900 ha, is covered by the Powidz Landscape Park. The Park was formed in 1998, it covers 24.600 ha of land, that belongs to communes: Powidz, Orchowo, Witkowo, Wilczyn, Kleczew, Słupca. On the Park terrain there are reservoirs, rushes, swamps, peat bogs, meadows, pastures and fields. There is also animal production, where the main direction is raising of pigs and cattle.

32. Achievement of the commune in the last few years The commune is taking any action, to win means that do not come from the budget, to realize investments. Thanks to help from SAPARD Program within terrain of the Witkowo commune some investments were realized: Building a landfill in Chłądowo place, Building a waterworks with links in Ostrowite Prymasowskie place, Modernization of the commune road from Dębina to Ruchocinek, Building sewage system in Mielżyn- Jaworowo place.

33. Achievement of the commune in the last few years Thanks to help from European Regional Development Fund, within the confines of Integrate Operating Program of Regional Development the commune could realize: Building of sewage system in Skorzęcin place

34. Proecological investments From 2000 to 2002 sewage treatment plant in Witkowo has been modernized, it has been adapted to increase the capacity and also to fulfill the standard requirements of environment protection.

The terrains that surround Witkowo are ecological clear. There are no harmful industry, smoking chimneys and factories that pollute water and atmosphere. The villages like Gaj – near Ostrowikie Lake, Wiekowo and Skorzęcin near Nedzięgiel Lake are very popular among inhabitants of the commune and the region. We can find there picturesque and beautiful lakes: Czarne – reservoir, which has shores surrounded by wide strip of reed and swamps which are home for many water birds, Ostrowickie – big reservoir, which has 289 ha and it is characteristic regardless of varied species of fishes.
