  1. MS Word Scavenger Hunt 5th Grade

  2. Warm up • Create a folder with your name on the desktop • Get the warm-up doc file from the web • www.cse.scu.edu/~sfigueira/eds/text1.doc • Save the file into the new folder

  3. Warm up • Practice highlighting • One word • Place the cursor on the spot and click twice • One paragraph • Place the cursor on the spot and click three times

  4. Warm up • Practice highlighting and over-writing • When a text is highlighted you can type over it

  5. Warm up • Practice changing highlighted text to a • Different font • Different size font • Bold font: command-b • Underlined: command-u • Italic: command-i

  6. Warm up • Practice searching • Use command-F to search for words

  7. Warm up • Practice including pictures • Get a cool picture from the web and include at the end of the file • Use google images • Use command-C and command-V to copy the picture • Make the picture smaller and larger in the text

  8. Scavenger Hunt • Get the doc file from the web • www.cse.scu.edu/~sfigueira/eds/text2.doc • Save the file into the new folder

Scavenger Hunt - Tasks • Make the title and headers bigger and bold • Change the font of the 1st and last paragraph to 2 different fonts • Change all the words energy to uppercase • Change all the words water to bold • Underline all the words money • Change the color of all the words recycling to red • Change all the words environment to italic • Include a picture related to the text at the end of the text.
