  3. Ud/Uds. commands • used with adults, strangers, or anyone that you need to show someformality or respect to.

  4. Formation of Ud./Uds/ commands • Identical to the Ud./Uds. subjunctive forms • ¡Tome..! ¡Vayan…! • ¡Vuelva…! ¡Pidan…! • ¡Salga! ¡Sean…! • ¡Empiece..! ¡Merezcan…!

  5. Negative commands Put NO in front of the command. ¡No tome…! ¡No vayan…! ¡No vuelva…! ¡ No salgan…! ¡No empiece…!

  6. with Reflexive verbs… like moverse, quitarse, levantarse, lavarse, etc… with an AFFIRMATIVE COMMAND, ATTACH THE PRONOUN MOVE! ¡Muévase! ¡Muévanse! TAKE OFF…! ¡Quítese..! ¡Quítense…! GET UP! ¡Levántese! ¡Levántense!

  7. with a negative reflexive command… • put the pronoun in front of the verb • Don’t move! ¡No se mueva! • Don’t get up! ¡No se levante! • Don’t take off…! ¡No se quite…! • Don’t wash…! ¡No se laven…! • Don’t get old! ¡No se envejezcan!

  8. Attach when positive, DON’T attach when negative! • Help me! ¡Ayúdeme! Don’t help me! ¡No me ayude! Move it! (the piano) ¡Muévalo! Don’t move it! ¡No lo mueva!
