  1. Bharat Uday Mission The moment of reckoning • Bharat Uday Mission (BM) was conceptualized and founded at IIT Kanpur on 29th October, 2004. • In the first week, Kanpur Chapter members designed and made the site of BM, laying the ideological foundation of BM. • We proceeded with great aplomb and poise. Due to our inner confidence, BM got credence among IITK community very soon. Within 2 weeks, we got more than 50 members and more than 5 future fulltime members. • In the first 4 months, we did only meetings at IIT Kanpur one meeting per month. The meetings were full of enthusiasm and zest. We were very happy to dream so big and took sincere pledge to lead BM to success at all personal costs.

  2. Bharat Uday Mission The moment of reckoning • We were concerned of two things most since very first day of BM: fulltime members of BM and finance of BM. On both issues, we concluded that we should propagate BM as much as possible so that the message of BM reaches all nooks & corners of India and abroad. • Initially, we tried to propagate BM through personal mails to friends. • On Apr 21, 2005 yahoo-group of BM was formed to give a good pace to BM’s propagation and to bring all members ideologically closer. • Kanpur chapter members led BM’s online work. During next 3-4 months, Kanpur Chapter members did extensive propagation campaign through personal mails to more than 20,000 persons. As a result, we got more than 300 members, many of them future fulltime. This extensive propagation campaign gave BM a solid base.

  3. Bharat Uday MissionPropagation • Our yahoo-group membership grew at 100+ per month. We started with 100 members on Apr 21, 2005 and are 900+ on this day of convention, 17 Dec, 2005. Thus, BM has acquired huge popularity in such a short span. • We have 70+ future fulltime members now. • We have active chapters in Delhi, Kanpur, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pilani and Banglore now and many chapters are on threshold of getting active. • Thus, we are marching with great aplomb on the path of nation-building and we are destined to succeed in our Mission completely in our own lifetime.

  4. Kanpur ChapterPast achievements • Apart from laying the foundation of BM, we have done some social activities as our social responsibility. • In the IITK institute cultural festival, Antaragni 2005, "Indian Inspired" - an event to ignite social concern among youths was conceptualized and concluded successfully by some of BM's members. • In the institute charging Rs. 10 from mess bill of each student and utilizing around Rs. 40,000 per month for social activities in and around IIT campus or for donation to NGOs was conceptualized and concluded successfully by some of BM's members. The proposal has been passed in the Student's Senate at IITK and will be implemented from coming semester Jan-Apr 2006.

  5. Kanpur ChapterPast achievements • Collection of around Rs. 38,000 for Jammu Kashmir Earthquake Relief Fund 2005. The money was sent to PM's Relief Fund. • We distributed 500 "Vivekananda His call to the nation" books among first year B. Tech students for arousing their social consciousness. All books have been stamped by BM's official stamp (built for this purpose), so that BM's vision remain itched in students' memory.

  6. Kanpur ChapterFuture Plans • We hold meetings at IIT Kanpur 3 times every semester, in beginning of semester, after first mid-semester exam and after second mid-semester exam. We discuss many ideological issues and also agenda for Kanpur Chapter's action plan. • In Jan-April 2006 semester, we plan to distribute 1600 "Vivekananda His call to the nation" books (stamped by BM's stamp) and pamphlets among IITK students for arousing their social consciousness and for propagating BM's vision to them. Books have already have been bought. • In Jan-April 2006 semester, we plan to propagate BM among students of HBTI (another state engineering college) and Kanpur Medical College by distribution of pamphlets. • In Jan-April 2006 semester, we plan to start some grassroot activities or support existing grassroot activities done by other organizations.

  7. Kanpur ChapterLessons on social leadership • Leadership is all about self-confidence and unsurpassable zeal for accepting challenges of life. • An army cannot fight without the commander, similarly, the organization becomes rudderless without good leaderships. • Social leadership is similar to business leadership or leadership in other walks of life in the sense that it also requires tremendous will, tremendous perseverance and tremendous strategic planning • Social leadership is different from leadership in other walks of life in the sense that it requires extra-ordinary selflessness and devotion to society.

  8. Kanpur ChapterLessons on social leadership • We can motivate others only to that extent, to which we ourselves are motivated. Extra-ordinary self-motivation of a handful youths can motivate an entire nation of crores of people to dynamic nation-building. The big question is “Are you one of such youths ?” • We need to learn the art of “let go” or working with non-attachment to results of action. We should do every work as our Dharma, without worrying about what we get in result. Such detached action will bring the highest good to ourselves and more importantly to humanity. • Ideals are surely very difficult to follow, as they requires persistent struggle for a long time before they become part of our nature. But this is the only path for a patriot, rather for human civilization. We are humans to the extent we are humane. Universal love is the only ideal that humanity needs today (Universal love means infinite love for everyone unconditionally).

  9. Bharat Uday Mission What is our future ? • Infinite glory of infinite perseverance, infinite struggle and infinite self-sacrifice (sacrifice of selfishness) for the sake of humanity. • Optimum service to humanity is the path and it is the goal also. We are trying to transform both social and political system of India for that. That’s why BM is an ideal political party, which aims to attain political power only through social service and only for social service, with final goal of a developed and prosperous India. • We will surely write history with our struggle & self-sacrifice. This world is guided by the cosmic law of cause and effect, our efforts will have to bear the fruits as per this cosmic law and in our lifetimes we will free our beloved motherland from all her socio-political ills.

  10. Bharat Uday Mission What is our future ? “We are not to ask why ? We are but to do or die.” We have only one passion, The rise of a great nation. Jai Hind
