SMART Goal • Team Make It Happen will raise $1000+ to provide an afternoon of bowling, socialization, and fun for the families of Boys Town Central Florida at AMF Sky Lanes Bowling Center on Friday October 23rd, 2009, located at 7401 S. Orange Blossom Trail Orlando, FL 32809 at 7pm. • Reached roughly 161% of goal -- $1608

  4. Team Specifics • Nearly 20 hours of meeting time alone – not including phone calls, texts, emails • Different management styles for each person – adapted to each other well • Used networking skills • Performed 7 objectives to reach goal

  5. Objectives 1) Macy’s Shop For A Cause • Sell WOW!PASSes for Macy’s charity sale on Oct. 17th – all proceeds benefit Boys Town • Project Manager – DaniloBurmann • Dates – 9/25 – 10/17 • Goal = $200 • Actual = $265 -- 132% of goal

  6. Objectives 2) Corporate Beg-A-Thon • Solicit businesses for prize and cash donations • Used as contingency plan for car wash, also applied to Chili’s Dine-in objective • Project Manager – All team members • Dates – Ongoing throughout project • Goal = $400 • Actual = $905 -- 226% of goal

  7. Objectives 3) Lawn Mowing Event • Mow lawns for donations • Project Manager – Bryant Nunez • Dates – 10/10 • Goal = $100 • Actual = $80 -- 80% of goal

  8. Objectives 4) Fall Flower Kiss Fundraiser • Sell Hershey’s kisses flowers • Project Manager – AksanaChornenkaya • Dates – 10/3 • Goal = $50 • Actual = $31 -- 62% of goal

  9. Objectives 5) School Supplies and Canned (nonperishable) Food Drives • Collect donated school supplies and nonperishable goods • Project Manager – Heather Austin • Dates – Ongoing throughout project • Goal = $100 • Actual = $177 -- 177% of goal

  10. Objectives 6) Bake Sale • Sold home made treats in front of Valencia CC Library • Project Manager – Maribel Hernandez • Dates – 10/6 • Goal = $100 • Actual = $150 -- 150% ofgoal

  11. Objectives 7) Chili’s Dine-in Event • Pass out fliers for dine-in event – 10% of proceeds donated to Boys Town • Project Manager – Elizabeth Whaley • Dates – 10/13 • Goal = $50 • Actual = $0 -- 0% of goal

  12. “Boys Town Bowl”The Main Event • Friday 10/23 - Bowling at AMF Sky Lanes Bowling Center on OBT at 7pm • The Good: • Families had a great time – especially extreme bowling • Bowling alley staff was fantastic – made many exceptions • Major teamwork • Success through stress • The Bad: • Miscommunication between Boys Town staff forces complete change of schedule • Families arrived early – bored • Not at many families showed up as quoted

  13. More Than Just A Grade • Developed necessary skills for success: time management, communication, budgeting, project management, etc. • Giving back to community is the right thing to do – gives fresh perspective • Service-learning experience can help differentiate from competition after graduation • Helps make the world a better place – sounds cliché, but it’s true!
