  1. The Study of Software Radioソフトウエア無線に関する研究

  2. Pricing in Mobile Communication - Present • Fixed-Rate Pricing • Simple but not suitable for dynamic environment • Offer of cheap rate during off-peak time but independent to the network conditions • Poor balance of demand and supply • High demand less supply • Poor network management • Solution to maintain the demand (higher demand) • Cell-splitting and frequency re-use • Dynamic channel allocation or alternate routing • Adaptive cell-sizing algorithm

  3. Pricing in Mobile Communication - Current Source:http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp http://www.kddi.com http://www.vodafone.jp NOTE: NO PRICE OR PLAN COMPARISON AMONG OPERATORS

  5. DEMAND PRICE Consumers’ Behavior and Price Factor • Human Behaviors • Higher demand makes lower supply. • High price makes less demand. Price Demand Supply of network resource • Network management is needed to the balance of the network resources Source: 2004 南沢, SHIMAMOTO LAB, GITS

  6. Dynamic Pricing Scheme - Concept • Motivation • Action of users: • Acts without the knowledge of system condition • Price sensitive • Concept • Price varies with the level of system congestion • Higher congestion level increases the price/call • Higher price makes call duration shorter • Call blocking probability reduces • More call generation during less congestion period due to cheaper price • Lower price makes call duration longer

  7. Price vs. Call Duration – Survey Result

  8. Price vs. Call Duration, contd.

  11. Dynamic Pricing Scheme in Multi-operator Environment • Basic concept • The network determines the present price for a call in each operator and suggests the best price usually cheaper one with acceptable QOS. • In this scheme mobile users will have a optionto choose the operator while initiating the call. • This will allow all the operators in the system in maintaining the network resources, serve the better QOS and services to the subscribers in cheaper price.
