Your village is divided by a fast-flowing river, and the existing flimsy bridge is no longer safe for crossing. The challenge is to design a robust structure that can transport both goods and people across the river. Utilizing available timber, tools, and ropes, you need to find a collaborative solution. Consider options like a new bridge, a pulley system, a raft, or a swinging arrangement. Your creativity and teamwork can create a safe crossing that meets the community's needs.

Your village is on both sides of the river – it is very fast flowing at certain times of the year. The flimsy bridge is rotting and parts of it have been washed away making it impossible to cross back and forth.
Problem:To create a structure that can carry goods across the river in safety from one side to another. If it could take people safely so much the better.
You have a sufficient supply of timber, nails, tools (hand), and rope of various thicknesses.Of course with the bridge down you first have to get equipment and materials on both sides of the river – Sorry, they are all on one side to start with!
You could try and solve this on your own but like the eventual solution it will work best if team work is involved.
So what is it to be?A new bridge or a pulleyed transporter? Perhaps a raft system or a swing arrangement – a principle based on a trebuchet would not be ideal but there may be something you could use!
