  2. What is art directing? Art directors- design and oversees the setting of any ad or commercial. They pick out the models, photographers, and any other things necessary for an ad. If an ad comes back with a imperfection print, the art director retouches it and makes it better. So the work inside and out depending on what they are working with.

  3. Specific Tasks • An art director spends most of the time trying to make there ad/commercial look real nice and advertising. • Creative conceptualization and artistic ability in drawing and story boarding • Create and maintain company marketing materials. Art directors have so many responsibilities. Some of them are listed above but not everything is up there. They might spend at least half the day working on their ad. It depends how experienced they are.

  5. Education and Training- in order to prepare to be a art director, you can start by taking courses in art, mechanical drawing or drafting, and photography in high school. Take two years of college that offers basic courses in layout and paste-up or a special art school. Four years colleges offer bachelor’s degrees in fine arts. Take classes for graphic design, typography, design, layout, and photography.

  6. Physiological Requirements • Having to finish work and meeting the deadline • NO ERRORS! • Having fun while keeping it professional • Keeping everything new, by not copying anybody else's work. • Having all the right materials • Being able to work with strangers and be friendly :]

  7. Personal characteristics • In order to be a good art you have to be very creative • Express your ideas not others • Have to be multitasked • Be very organized to make sure that you do what you need to do in time • energetic and highly motivated • Being able to work under pressure

  8. Advantages & Rewards • Getting noticed for their hard work in television, magazine, newspaper, and books • Expressing your self and getting paid for it • Getting a good salary of at least $73,400

  9. Disadvantages: • Dead lines to meet • Layouts to deliver to the printer • commercials that must be taped in short notices

  10. Conclusion The reason why I picked this career is because I think I’m very creative and I love to express my self. So, Art Directing is something I would enjoy doing for a while.
