  2. Israel was sinning & disobedient to God • They were suffering under the Philistines (Goliath the giant was a Philistine)

  3. God sent help in the most amazing way … • A man named Manoah& his wife could not have children • The Angel of the Lord appeared to Manoah’s wife: “… you shall conceive a son” • The child will be set apart/dedicated to God • He will deliver Israel from its enemy

  4. So happy, she went & told Manoah, who asked God to send the Angel again • The Angel taught them how to raise the child: he is to be holy& set apart for God’s work • In thanks giving Manoah& his wife offered a sacrifice to the Lord

  5. The wife gave birth to a boy, he was special indeed … He had super human strength • He used his bare hands to kill a lion • He used a donkey jaw bone to defeat 1,000 Philistines • He pushed 2 giant temple pillars, destroying many Philistines inside

  6. The Philistines became very afraid of Israel because of this man! Who is he? SAMSON!

  8. 1) HOWdid Israel behave towards God? • They were sinful and disobedient

  9. 2) HOWdid God behave towards Israel? • He loved them and sent them help

  10. 3) DOwe need BIG muscles to defeat the devil? • No, our true strength is in God • God gives us the inner strength (love, patience, courage, will-power, determination …) • no matter how big or small, young or old, we can defeat the devil

  11. This week … • Remember … God always responds to our needs, because He loves us! • Be obedient and holy, so God can do wonders in us • Our true strength is from God, no matter how young or old
