Onno W. Purbo is dedicated to fostering a knowledge-based society in Indonesia by promoting community-based ICT development. His vision includes providing free knowledge resources, establishing telecommunications infrastructure using WiFi, and facilitating VoIP services. As a jobless individual outside of donor and government support, Onno leverages his knowledge and connections to drive grassroots movements. His strategy focuses on educating the population, distributing resources via CD-ROM, engaging in extensive communication through mailing lists, and sharing insights through lectures and workshops.
