ABOUT COORDINATION CENTER FOR TLD RU/РФ • Non-commercial / non-profit organization • Registry for Russia’s national domains .RU & .РФ • The Council is the highest level of governance in CCTLD RU/РФ, and is responsible for developing the strategy. The Council consists of 13 members (12+1): • 12 experts represent different internet industry groups • 1 member is an authorized representative of RF Communications Administration. Has the right of veto • Number of accredited registrars: in.RU– 26, in.РФ – 25 • Activity: • development of registration procedures for domains .RU/.РФ • accreditation of registrars in .RU/.РФ • support of social projects aimed at popularization and development of the Internet • Mission: to support expansion of the Internet in the Russian Federation in the interests of the national and global Internet community

  5. INTERNET IN RUSSIA AND EUROPE In 2011 Russia became the first among European countries by the number of unique visitors online but not yet by the Internet penetration

  6. INTERNET PENETRATION IN RUSSIA • The number of active Internet users increases while overall number of users shows moderate growth • 51% of all Russian citizens 18+ use the Internet at least once a month, • 39% - once a day

  7. INTERNET-USERS ACTIVITY IN RUSSIA Internet is becoming one of the basic needs ofRussian society. By now 77%of all Russian users visit the Internet every day Only 6% of them go online less than once a week.

MOBILE INTERNET IN RUSSIA 10.6 mln Russian people (12+) use mobile internet every day 21 mln (17%) Russian people (12+) use mobile internet once a month (at least) Source: Public Opinion Foundation Younger people are the most active users of mobile Internet access, with more than a half of users (51%) aged 12-17 used Internet access via their mobile device at least once a month in 2011

  11. RIGF - 2012 Third Russian Internet Governance Forum Russian Internet Governance Forum is an event hosted by Coordination Center for TLD RU/РФ. Held in Moscow, Russia, the event had took place in Expocenter on May 14, 2012. This year, the event was dedicated to Internet and Cybersecurity.

BIG RUSSIAN INTERNET EVENTS Participation of the CC OCTOBER 2011 RIW-2011 – IV Russian Internet Week The Coordination Center had a booth representing some Russian registrars NOVEMBER 2011 Runet Prize 2011 (National Prize for contributing to Russian Internet development) The Coordination Center sponsored the event, as well as special nomination “For the Contribution to Development of Domain .РФ”
