Typical Issues • How to allow users to connect and communicate regardless of device type, manufacturer, or network technology? • How to do name resolution in the absence of DNS • How to autoconfigure services • How to bridge between different network technologies (e.g. Bluetooth and 802.11b) • How feasible is it to implement IPsec? • How to implement QoS? © British Telecommunications plc, 2003

Objectives • Bring key researchers, network operators, hardware and software vendors together to agree a common framework of standards for the user/device/network interface within the context of IPv6-enabled services • Draw non-partner organisations into supporting the framework through a combination of public demonstrations and dissemination events. © British Telecommunications plc, 2003

  6. Draft workplan • Identify all aspects of the user-network interface that require standardisation • Research and develop solutions for incorporation into the agreed framework • Develop the agreed framework covering all aspects identified in the first task above • Build service demonstrations for public display based upon the agreed framework • Widely disseminate the results of the work © British Telecommunications plc, 2003
