Causes Of PCOS

At the root of PCOS are hormonal imbalances that can cause an array of issues in the body. The main hormone associated with PCOS is testosterone, an androgen hormone normally present in both men and women but at higher levels in men. Women with PCOS have an abnormally high amount of testosterone or an oversensitivity to normal amounts. This leads to irregular or missed periods, fertility issues, and a variety of other symptoms.

  1. Causes Of PCOS Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder affecting women of reproductive age. PCOS affects approximately 5 to 10 percent of all women, making it one of the most common causes of female infertility. PCOS has many physical and emotional symptoms, as well as many causes, which makes understanding and treating the condition more difficult. Genetics may play a role in developing PCOS because many cases are hereditary. Insulin resistance may also be a contributing factor; this is when cells stop responding to insulin as they should, leading to too much glucose circulating in the blood stream. Other lifestyle factors like diet, weight, stress levels and sleep patterns can also play a role in developing PCOS due to their effect on hormone production and regulation.

  2. For some people who have been diagnosed with PCOS, treatments may include birth control pills for managing menstrual irregularities, hormone therapy for reducing androgen levels, and lifestyle changes like weight loss or exercising more often for improving overall health. Additionally, nutritional changes like eating healthy foods low in refined sugars and starches while cutting down on red meat can help balance hormones naturally while supporting general wellbeing too. Though understanding PCOS is difficult due its many different causes and wide range of effects it can have on someone’s health, early diagnosis is key for managing symptoms before they become severe. By taking preventative measures now like visiting a doctor regularly and paying attention to your lifestyle choices you can make a real difference in your quality of life even if you do suffer from PCOS.
