  4. Private Applicator Definition Private applicators must meet both criteria: • Produces an agricultural commodity and • Applications occur on land you own or operate

  5. General Farming Category • Production of any agricultural commodity allowed under this category

  6. Other Certification Categories

  7. Certification Subcategories Certification in a base category is first required before getting certified in a subcategory

  8. Certification Period Valid for 5 years Renew by passing a revised exam

  9. Pesticide Use Restrictions • Prohibited pesticides • Limited-use pesticides • Special rules

  10. Negligent Use • Using pesticides carelessly • Using pesticides for unlabeled purposes • Directing others to use a pesticide contrary to its label or law • Operating application equipment that is leaking or which cannot be calibrated

  11. Worker Protection Standard • Reduce risk of pesticide exposure to employees • Covers: • Farms • Forests • Greenhouses • Nurseries

  12. Immediate Family Heed WPS Restrictions • Entry during a pesticide application • Early-entry during a restricted-entry interval Immediate family includes spouse, children, parents, brothers, and sisters
