Continuous Improvement - TCTW • Sponsored by the SREB • 17 Technology Centers are involved in this initiative • Students are assessed for reading, math, and science every two years • Workshops in data interpretation and analysis will be offered this year • Variables evaluated include • High Expectations • Numeracy • Literacy • Challenging Science Curriculum • HSTW Curriculum • Integrated Academics • Help • Timely Guidance • Importance of High School • Quality CT Studies

  5. Continuous Improvement-Model Schools • Model Schools • Comprehensive support program for schools • Purpose of the program is to assists schools in their efforts to improve student achievement • Six Technology Centers are a part of this initiative

Continuous Improvement-Model Schools • Daggett System for Effective Instruction • Organizational Leadership • Creating a culture • Establishing and aligning vision with organizational structure • Building Leadership • Instructional Leadership • Higher Expectations • Align curriculum standards • Integrate literacy and math • Teaching • Rigorous and relevant instruction and expectations • Build strong relationships with students

  7. Continuous Improvement - CSI • Continuous School Improvement (CSI) • Statewide committee that meets to discuss current issues • Sounding board for Dr. Sommers • Enables him to get field input • Meet quarterly

Teacher Leader Effectiveness • Teacher Model • Tulsa Model Training • CTE Train the Trainer • 5 required days completed throughout the year • Partnered with Career & Academic Connections leadership and field staff to develop Guidance Rubric • Student Services Rubric planned for 2013-14 • Leader Model • McREL Training • 2 days required training completed • 1 day follow up for 2013-14, October 28 at Moore Norman

ODCTE Project Charters • Certification • Instructional – LaMeciaStidham • Administrator – Karen Skidmore • Initial Steps of Certification • Step 1: Develop the list of skill sets for each group • Instructor – utilizes SREB research as the foundation • Administrator – utilizes National Policy Board for Educational Administration (NPBEA) • Step 2: Identification of present process for both certifications • Step 3: Proposed new process for both certifications

ODCTE Project Charters • Accreditation – Dawn Lindsley • Begin to develop a new process based on Baldrige Criteria • Competency-based • Based on student success • Not based on minimum standards • Used for improvement • Intention is to pilot the 2014-2015 school year • Will be tied to performance measures being developed by the CareerTech Superintendents

Lottery Grant • $1.63 million distributed to 17 tech centers in FY13 • Max of $150,000 per school district • Criteria based on 8 categories: • General Description • Improved Student Learning • Innovation • Implementation in Career Clusters • Projected Added Enrollment • Project Value • Budget Submission • Proper Grammar, Punctuation, and Formatting

Lottery Grant • 15 points per category • 120 total points may be received • -20 points if the technology center has received the award in the last 2 years • 0 points if the technology center has received the award last year • +10 points if the technology center did not receive an award last year • +20 points if the technology center did not receive an award in the last two years • No more than one award per school per year • Late submissions are not accepted

Examples of Lottery Funding in FY12, FY13, and FY14 • Virtual welders – Metro Tech, Tri-County, Moore-Norman • SimMan – Central Tech, High Plains, Indian Capital, Northeast, Northwest, Canadian Valley, Pioneer, Autry, Wes Watkins • iPads, iPad-based curriculum, or tablets– Gordon Cooper, Pontotoc, Pioneer, Wes Watkins, Chisholm, Central • Alternative Energy – Autry, Canadian Valley, Francis Tuttle, Northeast • Aviation Technology – Mid-Del • Cyber Security – Great Plains, Meridian
