  2. A Healthy Pastor and Finances Lesson Four

  3. Key Truth: Healthy pastors manage God’s resources wisely 2 Corinthians 9:6-11 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.”

  4. 2 Corinthians 9:6-11 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

  5. Four Pillars to God’s Economy 1. A Divine SUPPLY: God is the SOURCE of every blessing in your life. You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth. Deuteronomy 8:17-18

  6. 2. A Divine DESIGN: God designed you to be a CHANNEL of his blessing, not a CONTAINER We must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35

  7. 3. A Divine CYCLE: The more you GIVE AWAY, the more there is to give away. Jesus said, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Luke 6:38

  8. 4. A Divine PROMISE: When you honor God with your INCOME, He will meet all your needs. Godliness with contentment is great gain. 1 Timothy 6:6

  9. Three Levels of “Enough”: • Not Enough • Just Enough • More Than Enough

  10. Developing a Plan for Your Finances 10/10/80 Financial Plan 1. Give the first 10 percent of your income to GOD. “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, ”says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” Malachi 3:10

  11. 2. SAVE the second 10 percent of your income. Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. Proverbs 6:6-8

  12. 3. REDUCE expenses to live on 80 percent of your income.
