Overview • BWHO (people) -> PIE • BWHO (documents) -> WebLIB • Cold Fusion mailing lists -> listserv mailing lists • lhcb.cern.ch -> lhcb.web.cern.ch
BWHO -> PIE (people) • Most entries verified • Missing entries added to PIE (needed for mailing lists) • Migration completed August 2000. • Consultation via grey book: http://graybook.cern.ch/ExperimentSearch.html • New features were added for us (mailing lists, external phone number)
BWHO -> WebLIB (documents) • Documents (PS and PDF files) moved to WebLIB • http://weblib.cern.ch/LHCb • Migration completed August 2000
Sending/reading email • To send email, use an address on the page: • http://lhcb-help.web.cern.ch/lhcb-help/html/sending.htm • To read archived emails, consult the archives on this page. • To subscribe yourself to one of the LHCb lists, please contact the LHCb secretariat. • Requests for new LHCb mailing lists should be addressed to the LHCb secretariat.
Access to email archives • Four types: • nobody has access • only members have access (e.g. lhcb-cb) • mail server users have access • anybody has access (most of our lists) • Use your CERN Mail Server login and password. See https://wwwlistbox.cern.ch for help. • This can be changed, contact J. Closier
Mailing lists • Some problems: people without Preferred or Generic CERN email address weren’t receiving email • Fixed by PIE team using External email address (= address known by BHWO) • PEM should be the same as External email! • People urged to set up/fix PEM/GEM, see: • http://consult.cern.ch/service/mail/cerndir/theory.html • Incorrect email addresses will be removed • Conversion completed mid September 2000
Web server conversion • Move to IT support central Web server • FrontPage 2000, can be maintained as before with FrontPage 98 • Subwebs have become webs • Webs can be on AFS, eg physics web • Webnames the same as email lists • The new URL is : http://cern.ch/lhcb
To edit the new web Open the website by typing the new name in the box next to “List Webs” Need permission, by default took webmaster list from http://lhcb-help.web.cern.ch/lhcb-help/html/sending.htm
Home directories, new webs • The www directory in home directories on ALNTC1 were mapped to • http://lhcb.cern.ch/~your-userid • If you don’t already have a new personal web, create one using: • https://web0.cern.ch/WebRegister/RegistrationStep1.asp • Move your files to this web with FrontPage • see Joel Closier if you need help, or if you want to create a new LHCb web.
To access the old web • Temporarily, access to the old web can be forced by using the URL: • http://lhcbweb.cern.ch/ • name “lhcbweb” will be replaced by “lhcbbatch” in near future • If you find broken links, please tell J. Closier • Web conversion now considered complete
Conclusions • Conversion complete, thank you for your patience!
