  1. TI 8 tests on behalf of all participants Many thanks for the excellent beam test preparation

  2. Programme Day 1

  3. Programme Day 2 Total of 5.8e13 protons sent on TI 8 TED

  4. Preparatory work • Full re-alignment campaign (TT40 last done in 2003-2006, TI 8 in summer 2007) • Beam monitoring: • 4 BPM added near the end of the line (3 before TED (872, 875, 877), 1 after (878)) • Two plane readout for all BPM in the line • New applications developed, tested and fully operational (DFS, beam screen matching…) • Thorough preparation through “dry-runs” • Access system test and validation by DSO on 29 May • Affected LHC area patrolled and closed on 5 June

  5. TT40 bare trajectory (no MSE, no MBHC trims) TI 8 bare trajectory - with energy trim 0.1%

  6. TI 8 trajectory, after MICADO correction H Trims (in mrad) MBHC +34 (-0.004432) MSE +7 (+0.00212521 MCIAH.87204       12.38 MCIAH.80804       16.42 MCIAH.81004       -13.57 V Trims (in mrad) MDMV.400097       20.39 MCIAV.80104       -21.99 MCIAV.81304       -17.85 MCIAV.81504       21.54 MCIAV.83704       27.41 MCIAV.86904       -17.86

  7. TI 8 trajectory, after DFS H-correction H plane corrected with 2 DFS iteration (using new algorithm in YASP) Vertical plane corrected manually with previous correctors found V Trims (in mrad) MDMV.400097       20.39 MCIAV.80104       -21.99 MCIAV.81304       -17.85 MCIAV.81504       21.54 MCIAV.83704       27.41 MCIAV.86904       -17.86 H Trims (in mrad) MDMH.400104     15.44 MCIAH.80804       10.68 MCIAH.87204       12.96

  8. Horizontal dispersion (model, 2008 data, 2009 data)

  9. Vertical dispersion (model, 2008 data, 2009 data)

  10. Horizontal dispersion (model, 2008 data, 2009 data with various trajectory corrections)

  11. Vertical dispersion (model, 2008 data, 2009 data with various trajectory corrections)

  12. Horizontal dispersion (model, 2008 data, 2009 data with various MBI FT length)

  13. Vertical dispersion (model, 2008 data, 2009 data with various MBI FT length)

  14. Non-linearity in dispersion measurement spotted on 3 last BPMs in H – confirmed with adjacent BTV BPM872 BPM871 BPM874 And V plane perfectly linear BPM875 BPM876 BPM877

  15. BTVI876 BTVI874 BPM877 BTV readings BTVI874 BTVI876 BTVI877

  16. Bare HV Micado corrected 2 s MBI FT

  17. Screen matching measurements (Verena) -> optimisation of screen profile measurements -> data taking for optics matching measurements with screens (on central frequency and +/- 2 per mil. Kick response measurements (Jorg, Kajetan) ->Taking all the correctors at the beginning of the line -> Varying the dp/p by +/- 4 per mil -> Idem for configuration with reduced / larger MBI FT Aperture studies (Jan, Kajetan, Brennan, Verena…) Performed in both planes for one phase Analysis in progress Collimator tests (Ralph, Stefano, Chiara, Adriana, Daniel..,) Confirmed that that the 2 TI 8 collimators work well with beam. Useful to see a couple of unexplained events which are being studied.

  18. MKE kicker waveform studies • Measurement of extraction kicker MKE4 waveform: • Varied kicker voltage and measured position -> calibration • Varied kicker delay in 0.1 µs steps and measure beam position again • Patient job 23:00 and 7:30 (thanks to Stephane and Jerome !) • Measurements on BTV have proven to be very stable • Detailed analysis remains to be done Voltage Calibration Raw Data: Less kick Courtesy Jan Uythoven Mike Barnes  2 % Start of the pulse

  19. 12 bunch extraction Almost immediately ready Intensity of about 1.2e10/bunch and some shots with 5e10/b Intensive checks of BI response, trajectory stability, interlocks….
