  1. Before you use this presentation • There are certain changes that you will need to make before you use this presentation. They are marked with a bright yellow arrow. • Make sure you remove the arrow before presenting • The visual style in this presentation includes some shapes; some you will be able to move, some should stay where they are. • This is a ready to use sample presentation done in British English, feel free to adapt it to your language for effective communication.

  2. Make sure it looks good! • Logos in this presentation are only used in the first and last slide. • We’ve prepared this presentations for National Associations. However, if you wish to add your Chapter, you can change the layout for ‘Title Slide’ and ‘Final Slide’ to use the Chapter logo. • You can explore how to add the country name and/or Chapter name in the logos to your right REMINDER • Country and Chapter names are capitalized only on the first letters, so Korea not KOREA or El Salvador not el salvador. • We don’t use the word ’Chapter’, just the name. So Austin instead of Austin Chapter

  4. Introducing CISV CISV helps our participants to reach their full potential and to see themselves as active members in a global community. We help children and youth to develop some serious attitudes, skills, and knowledge but we have fun while we do it! CISV educational programmes are non-formal and full of energy, enthusiasm, and friendship. 68 countries 220 cities 55.000 individual members

  5. What is a leader? Being a leader is a unique opportunity and an experience that will shape the rest of your life.

  6. A responsible volunteer A leader is a volunteer who takes a small delegation of children or youth from their home country to a programme. We need leaders for four of our seven programmes. 

  7. What does a leader do? • Trains to prepare for the role • Gets to know a small group of children or youth (a delegation) and their families before a programme • Prepares the delegation for life at a programme  • Takes care of our young participants during travel and throughout the programme • Supports the programme staff and actively participates in programme activities • Has responsibility for planning and running educational activities during the programme • May have specific responsibilities for the travel arrangements  • Understands and enforces CISV’s Child Protection Policy

Requirements to be a leader • Be at least 21 years of age (at time of travel) • Speak English • Undergo a criminal record check • Complete CISV training • Have a positive and open-minded attitude • Have an interest in education and other cultures • Be open to new experiences, new foods, and new people All leaders have a responsibility to protect and promote the welfare of the children and youth in our programmes. Leaders are given training and must make sure that they understand and work within the child protection policies of CISV.
