  2. Bora Bora is just over 30 km in circumference (122 square kilometers in total) part of the frequently visited society islands of Tahiti and has a population of about 8,900 people. Bora Bora is perhaps the most beautiful island in French Polynesia - perhaps the entire South Pacific or even the entire world.

  3. GEOGRAPHY Bora Bora is a relatively small island, which is very impressive because of its steep, dramatic profile. Mt. Otemanu , which reaches 2,400 m at its peak-like summit, dominates the visual panorama from almost anywhere on the island. It is best to hire an off-road vehicle to explore the lush inner streets of the main island. Only then can you reach the magnificent vantage points by vehicle. Alternatively, bring good hiking boots to explore the island's trails and trails. Another destination for those who want to explore Bora Bora beyond the borders of their resort is the beautiful Matira Beach with its pristine white sand, easily accessible from the main ring road.

  4. TOWNS Bora Bora has no towns, but its largest village and main port is Vaitape, which has several dozen shops and several waterfront restaurants and bars. Vaitape's craft is the destination for visitors looking for distinctive souvenirs such as black Tahitian pearls, shell jewelry, colorful pareu chains, carvings and fragrant soaps and oils. Vaitape is easy to see during a short walk and it is generally not crowded with too many tourists, except when there are cruise ships in the harbor.

  5. Airport But the flight to Bora Bora is a breathtaking thrill. Otemanu appears on the horizon as a ragged green summit surrounded on all sides by the clearest, most fascinating Blue Lagoon imaginable. It is a sight that is not easily forgotten. From the air you can see some of the famous Bora Bora resorts with their long wooden jetties across the lagoons that connect the thatched-roof bungalows.

  6. TRANSPORT Unlike Tahiti and Moorea, most resorts on Bora Bora are not on the actual island, but on the ring of little motus that surround them. That's why you travel by boat from the airport to your resort. Most resorts have private motorboats that pick guests up at Bora Bora Airport and bring them directly to the resort dock (travelers should book this in advance). For resorts on the main island, it is possible to take the ferry to Vaitape, where land transport to each resort is offered.
