  1. A fourfold Newness By Robert C. Archer

  2. We find this prophecy in Jer. 31:31-34 • Jeremiah 31:31-34 (NKJV) 31 “Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah • 32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the LORD. • 33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. • 34 No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”

  3. A Fourfold Newness • The New Covenant is a Heart-Written Covenant • “I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts” • 2 Corinthians 3:3 (NKJV) 3 clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.

  4. A Fourfold Newness • The New Covenant Demands that All Know the Lord • If you were born an Israelite, under the old, you were part of God’s people – not so under the new! • Under the new • One must be old enough to know and understand who the Lord is. • But even more important, one must know the Lord in a personal way.

  5. A Fourfold Newness • The New Covenant Produces a Personal Relationship • The kind of relationship God wants between Himself and His people is a new relationship: • “I will be their God and they shall be my people.” • Enoch is an example of one who had that relationship – Enoch “walked with God” • We too can walk with God!

  6. In the book of Ephesus, we see what it means to walk with God • 4:1 – walk worthy • 5:17-24 – walk not as the world • 5:2 – walk in love • 5:8 – walk as children of light • 5:15-17 – walk circumspectly (carefully)

  7. A Fourfold Newness • The New Covenant Brings Absolute Remission • Impossible before the cross • Hebrews 9:22 (NKJV) 22 And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. • Hebrews 10:4 (NKJV) 4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.

  8. The New Covenant Brings Absolute Remission • It took a perfect sacrifice • Hebrews 10:8-10 (NKJV) 8 Previously saying, “Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the law), 9 then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. 10 By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. • Hebrews 9:15 (NKJV) 15 And for this He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

  9. CONCLUSION • A Fourfold Newness • The New Covenant is a Heart-Written Covenant • The New Covenant Demands that All Know the Lord • The New Covenant Produces a Personal Relationship • The New Covenant Brings Absolute Remission
