  3. Pre-reading questions • You are probably the only child,do you feel lonely?Why? • How many classmates in your class are the only child?Do you think they are less capable of interacting?

  4. Structural analysis of the text • This text centres on the one-child family issue. It can be divided into five parts. • Part I (Paragraph 1 ) serves the Prelude. • Part II (Paragraphs 2-3) is the Introduction. • Part III (Paragraphs 4-5) is the Body. • Part IV (Paragraph 6 ) is the Advantages of having a single child. Part V (Paragraph 7)is the Conclusion.

Text analysis • Part I • In this part the autor points out a delimma that so many couples are faced with. • Language work • 1. dilemma-a situation in which it is difficult to decide what to do • 2. demanding-needing a of ability,effort,or skill • 3. lonely -unhappy because you are alone or do not have any one to talk to • 4. financial resources -resources related to money

That worries you • 2.negotiate -discuss sth. In order to reach an agreement,esp. in business or politics • 3.give-and-take -a willings between two people or groups to understand each other,or to let each other have or do some of the things they want
