The Illinois Accountability Report aims to make the state one of the five most affordable for college education. It focuses on ensuring affordability for students, families, and taxpayers. Current metrics show that Illinois ranks low nationally for affordability, particularly for low- and middle-income families. Despite this, the state performs better than the national average in revenue support from local and state sources. To achieve this goal, Illinois is focusing on enhancing the ability to pay, tuition rates, student debt management, and institutional efficiency.
