Communication • Make certain email is accurate on Charms and HAC. • Update contact information on HAC throughout the year if changes are made. • If your insurance changes during the year, please fill out a new medical form for choir. • Enrollment Card – Student Directory Box: • Students may not have their photo and/or name published in the newspaper or on website unless Box A (All) is checked. • Photos of choirs at performances or group events with no student names are public.

Paperwork and Fees • ChoirHandbook • Located in Teacher Web Documents • Required forms: • Handbook acknowledgement • Permission to Travel (full year) • Consent to Treat (full year) • Required fees: • Choir Expense Fee - $50 • Uniform Fee - $25 • 6th Grade - Polo Shirt Purchase • 7th/8th Grade Girls - Dress Alteration & Cleaning • 7th/8th Grade Boys - Vest Cleaning & Tuxedo Shirt Purchase

Grading • Major – 50% • Required Concerts: • October 23, 7:00PM @ Seven Lakes HS • December 16, 7:00PM @ Tompkins HS • February 24,7:00 PM @ St. Peter’s UMC • May 30, 6:00 and 7:30– Pop Shows @ BDJH • Required After-School Rehearsals (see calendar) • Project-Based Learning • Small Ensemble Project – Semester 1 • Pop Show Project – Semester 2 • Portfolio • Tests

  7. Grading (continued) • Minor - 35% • Daily participation • Quizzes • Binder Checks • Personal recordings • Other - 15% • Warm-up activities • Journal entries • Theory assignments • Sight reading assignments

Uniforms • 6th Grade: • Choir polo, black slacks, black shoes, matching belt • JV/Varsity Girls: • Formal green and black BDJH choir dress, black closed-toe dress shoes with backs (character shoes) • Varsity Boys: • White tux shirt, black choir vest and tie, black dress pants, black dress shoes & black socks • Casual: • 2013-2014 Choir T-Shirt with jeans and casual closed-toe shoes with backs

  9. Competitions • Region Choir (7th/8th) • Auditions – October 12 • Clinic & Concert – November 15-16 • UIL (7th/8th) • March 5-7 • Solo & Ensemble (6th/7th/8th) • March 29 – hosted by BDJH Choir • Katy 6th Grade Festival • April 9 or 10

Southwestern Division American Choral Directors Association GRADED HONOR CHOIRS 2014 • 4-5-6 Treble Honor Choir • 7-8-9 Mixed Honor Choir • Selected by competitive audition • Entered by Mrs. Low and Mrs. Menzie • Recorded audition due October 15 • Conference is March 19-22, 2014 • Little Rock, Arkansas • Parent or chaperone must accompany singer to the conference.

Socials • Times Square (all) – September 20 • 4:30 – 6:30 pm; $25 cash • Boys’ Night Out (all boys) – January 24 • 6:00 – 10:00 pm @ BDJH; $5 • Girls’ PJ Party (all girls) – February 7 • 6:00 – 10:00 pm @ BDJH; $5 • Laser Quest (7th and 8th only)– Feb 21 • After early release; TBD • Rockets Game – TBD • Times and ticket prices TBA • Fiesta Texas– TBD
