Year 8 Winter writing assessment In this writing assessment you will write a little about the following topic areas: • sports you (and those you know) do • how you spend your free time • what you are planning to do next weekend • what you usually eat and drink and your likes/dislikes • a recent meal you had out at a restaurant
Year 8 French writing 1. Quels sports fais-tu? Tu les aimes? Pourquoi? 2. Qu’est-cequetuaimes faire pendant ton temps libre? Et tafamille? 3. Qu’est-cequetu vas faire ce weekend? 4. Qu’est-cequetumangesnormalement? Qu’est-cequetuaimes manger et boire? 5. Décrisunevisiterécent au restaurant.
Prepare answers of 3 or 4 sentences for each question that include the following: Use verb forms other than ‘I’ and choose some ‘regular’ verbs jouer and penserand irregulars – e.g. être/avoir/faire Say a little about your plans for next weekend and what the rest of your family will be doing too. This is what you have just learnt – how to say what you ‘did’ in the past. You use this when you like you like doing something – i.e. j’aime/j’adore…. Links are ways to join sentences or halves of sentences together – e.g. et, aussi,mais, cependant, après,puis As well as ‘j’aime’ etc.. Why not also include je penseque, je croisque, à monavis Parceque= because! see p.5 vocabulary booke.g. nicer than, funnier than, bigger than..
Level 2: short, simple (one or part phrase) responses to 3 of 5 questions. Spelling is approximate but meaning clear.Level 3: answers of two phrase length in 3 of 5. Spelling is intelligible. Several complete sentences.Level 4: answers of 3 or 4 phrase length – spelling generally accurate, sentences mostly have correct verb forms.Opinions & reasons included with linking words.Level 5: Pupils do as for level 4 but include questions and reference to the future or the past. Evidence of independent learning and adaptation of grammar learnt to new contexts. Level 6: As for level 5 but clear use of 3 time frames (present, past and future) Formation may not be perfect but meaning will always be clear.NB: Half levels are also possible. Enter marks on marksheet as follows: Level 5 = 19, 4.5 = 17, 4 = 15, 3.5 = 13, 3 = 11, 2.5 = 9, 2 = 7
