  3. What does it mean to digest food? • Break down food

  4. What do the lungs do for you? • Take in Oxygen and remove Carbon Dioxide

  5. What two systems determine the gender of an organism? • Reproductive • Endocrine – through hormones

  6. What body system is the heart a part of and what is its function? • Cardiovascular / Circulatory • To pump blood (nutrients) through the body

  7. What is the order of organization beginning with cells and ending with biosphere? • Cell, tissue, organ, organ system, organism, population, community, ecosystem, biosphere.

  8. A spider having the ability to spin a web is an example of what type of adaptation? • Physiological

  9. Having rough horns to scrape moss off a tree for food is what type of adaptation? • Structural

  10. What adaptations could keep a mammal warm in a cold environment?Name at least two • Thick fur • Hollow hair in the fur • Fat layers • Ability to shiver

  11. How much of a parents genes are contributed to the offspring in asexual reproduction? • All of them

  12. What are all organisms composed of? • cells

  13. How much of a parents genes are contributed to the offspring in sexual reproduction? • Half of them

  14. If two parents have recessive traits, what percent of their offspring will have the recessive trait? • All of them = 100%

  15. Where are genes located? • Nucleus of a cell • On a chromosome • In the DNA

  16. What is biodiversity? • Different forms of life in one area

  17. What body system are your lungs a part of and what do they do? • Respiratory • Exchange oxygen for carbon dioxide

  18. What causes blood to move through your body? • Beating Heart

  19. Why do reptiles lay on a rock in the hot sun? • They are cold blooded and need to regulate their body temperature by their actions.

  20. What is the process of maintaining an internal balance?(example: sweating, shivering, vomiting) • Homeostasis

  21. What are the parts of your DNA that determine your traits? • genes

  22. Your genes control the structure and function of which cells? • All of them in the organism

  23. What dissection tool can remove tiny particles from a specimen? • tweezers

  24. What is required to have “survival of the fittest” • Live long enough to reproduce

  25. What if an organisms trait is not desirable and they can not find a mate. • Their trait will not be passed on to the next generation and will no longer exist.

  26. Know the following? • How to read a dichotomous key to accurately identify an organism • Interpret graphs and tables to determine what makes an organism more fit.
