  2. NG LI headquarters is in Mariehamn, Åland islands. The companystarted in 1959 when a group of sea- and bussiness man bought a steam-poweredcar-ferry from UK. NG LI started service the same year on the route between Finland and Sweden. Over the years NG LI has grown and now it is one of the largest shipping companies in the Baltic sea. Viking Line History

  3. Viking Line Professions • There are over 42 different professions on board. The professions are dividedthree different groups. • Deck department, engine room and service department. On service department there are five different types of job departments. That are service, hotel function, restaurant, kitchen and all the stores.

Viking Line also offers Jobs on land • Jobs on land can be for example, loading all the trucks and cars to the ship. • The receptionists who givephone service and takescare of all reservations. • Office work. • Sightseeing and guide travels. • Attendents who clean all the cabins and the ship. The company gives work to manypeople and helps the economy in the seacities.

  5. Viking Line has many different guides and sightseeings for different countries and cities for example Riga,Tallinn and Helsinki.Theysellcruisepackages with boat trips and sightseeing. Guide and Sightseeing

  6. Smörgåsbord Smorgasbord is the all you can eat buffet. There is a lot of Swedish traditional food. Many people travel with boat just to eat at the buffet because it tastes good and you can eat as much as you want.

  7. Bilingualism on board On the ships you canspeakbothfinnish and swedish. The employees has to be able to speakbothlanguages. On board you canusebothcurrents Euro and Swedish Krona.

  8. Viking Line is using the best available technology to save the enviroment. Before Viking Line shipshavecleaned the wastewateronboard, but it has beenresearched that cleaning the wastewateronshore is moreenviromentfriendly. Nowadays, everytime Viking Line ship gets anchored, it pumps all wastewaters to the water treatment plants. Viking Line & Enviroment Some Viking Line ships are usingelectricity from onshoresources. That means that some of theseshipsdon’thave to useany gas to generateenergy, theycan just load the batterieswhenthey are anchored. Becausethere are so manylittleislands in the area of Åland, Viking Line is decreasing the wavesmade by ships. Viking Line alsouse speed limits and fairway selections to protect the archipelago.

  11. Our project about the sea, took us on a little boat cruise on the Viking line. During the visit in Stockholm we all went on a cruise to Helsinki. Comenius on board
