  1. Switched On Fun and Electric Learning about being safe with Electricity and Gas. By Year 4, Harvest Christian School, Kadina, South Australia, 2009.

  2. The goal Our goal this year was to LEARN about being safe with Electricity and Gas, while having FUN. What could be more fun than Drama? But we had to do it well with such a serious message. So we set our minds to learn, apply, adapt…all within a dynamic process of Drama creation and response to feedback…

  3. We decided to build a model kitchen in our classroom to teach energy safety!!!

  4. We visited some kitchens!!!

  5. We made safe switches and appliances!

  6. And a sink! We used blue cellophane for the water so that we could drop appliances in the sink and they would not really get wet!

  7. We made up skits in groups.

  8. We performed for feedback... ...and then tried to squeeze in even more tips!!!

  9. The year 5 and 6 classes had learnt about energy safety when they were in year 4. So they gave us lots of feedback and even tried to show us what to do! But it all helped us to learn!

  10. So, in the end, we learnt a lot and showed the other classes how to be safe with electricity and gas.

  11. My part in the play was the Origin Energy person who came to fix the leak in the hose on the gas BBQ - Heidi I helped to roll up the long extension cord that was lying under the mat - Jess We showed them what to do when the power goes out. We turned off the switches, pulled out the plugs by the round bit, and then checked the fuse box - Jason.

  12. I was a school girl with Rachael. I was 16 and Rachael was 15. Jessica dropped the kettle in the ‘sink’, and I said, “No, don’t touch it!” - Kyra. My part was to ring Origin Energy for advice - Ebonee.

  13. Thank you! You’ve been a wonderful audience!!!
