This project aims to restore lives and livelihoods, establish coordination mechanisms among contributing bodies, address sector problems, and prioritize interventions for sustainable impact and avoidance of duplication. Current status includes multiple ongoing and completed infrastructure projects. The forecasted livelihood projects in Northern Bekaa include marketplaces, exhibition halls, cold storage upgrading, fish processing plants, and municipal equipment acquisitions.

Current status of the activities • Since its inception early November 2006 the UNDP Bekaa-Sub office carried out the following: • Initial preliminary inception meeting with local authorities and municipalities (Mohafez, Qa’im Maqam, Federation of Municipalities, Local Communities, Civil Society Organizations) • Needs and damage assessments in affected villages • Prioritize and supervise a variety of interventions to reconstruct and rehabilitate affected areas
