Enhancing Math Engagement through Strategic Tool Use and Collaborative Practices

This session focuses on the integration of the 8 Mathematical Practices to enhance student engagement in math. Participants will explore ways to use appropriate tools strategically, as outlined in Mathematical Practice #5. Attendees are encouraged to write down any questions or comments regarding math on post-it notes for discussion at the session's end. Additionally, we’ll review Practices 1-4, discuss collaborative strategies, and prepare presentations on the use of various tools in problem-solving. Join us to foster a deeper understanding of math practices in the classroom!

  1. Mathematical Practice #5 Use appropriate tools strategically.

  2. QC2 Write down any questions and/or comments you have in regards to math on a post-it notes and place it on the poster at the back of the room. These will be addressed at the end of the session.

  7. Wish List Time… List anything and everything you would buy if you had a shopping spree on the district for one day. THECATCH? You have to tell how your students would use it to learn math and the practices.
