Purpose of Today’s WebEx Training The purpose and goals of this training is to familiarize “experienced” District and Building Coordinator with: • Updates to PAWS 2011 • Improvements to PearsonAccess • Two levels of training • Webex • Training Modules developed specifically for District/Building PAWS Coordinators • Standardized PAWS administration protocol

  3. What’s New for 2011 • PAWS is all paper, no online portion • Building PAWS Coordinators will receive more boxes with test materials • Administration Window is three weeks • PAWS will be a timed assessment • Header Sheet modified • Customer Support Center in Texas 3

  4. Allowable Resources • Allowable Resources for all contents can be located in the Directions for Administration manual • No changes for the 2011 PAWS

  5. Exemption Requests • WDE-673 is submitted to the WDE to request an exemption from the Wyoming State Assessment System • Exemption requests are due March 7, 2011 • Check with a Building Administrator to ensure that all requests are submitted prior to this date

  6. Testing Schedule for 2011 • 2011 PAWS will be a timed test (see handout) • Standardized schedule developed for each grade by content based on number of sections in Student Test and Answer Book • Reading • Grades 3 - 6: four sections • Grades 7, 8, and 11: three sections • Writing • Grades 3 - 8 and 11: two sections (draft and final) • Mathematics • Grades 4 - 8: three sections • Grades 3 and 11: two sections • Science • Grades 4, 8, and 11: two sections 6

Pre-ID Forms Pre-ID/Accommodation Window is December 13 to January 7, 2011 Verify all student data for the purpose of receiving accurate Pre-ID Student Test and Answer Books Ensure that the appropriate Special Form accommodations are entered into PearsonAccess for Braille, Large Print and Audio in order to get Pre-ID special forms 8

Special Forms Special Forms requested using the October WDE-664 Data Collection will be Pre-ID’d • If WDE-664 was not submitted for a student, accommodations must be entered into PearsonAccess before January 7, 2011 to receive a Special Form’s version of the Pre-ID Student Test and Answer Book and Kit • Accommodations that result in the utilization of a Special Form of the Student Test and Answer Book are: • Selection of #1 Student uses Braille • Selection of #2 Student uses Large Print • Selection of #3 Student uses Audio

  10. Standard Accommodations Entered AFTER January 7, 2011 • In order to receive special forms after January 7, Building PAWS Coordinators must follow a two step process: 1. Enter accommodation in PearsonAccess 2. Submit an additional order in PearsonAccess • Student Test and Answer Book will be sent, but it will NOT have student Pre-ID information • Student demographic information must completed on the back of the Student Test and Answer Book by Building PAWS Coordinator (not student)

Banking of Test Scores • Banking of Test Scores: • Students in Grade 10 can take the Reading Assessment and bank their score • Students in Grade 10 can take the Writing Assessment and bank their score • Students in Grade 10 can take the Mathematics Assessment and bank their score • Science is not administered to students in Grade 10, therefore, there is no banking of Science Scores 11

Adequate Yearly Progress • Full Academic Year: • October 1, 2010 - March 25, 2011 • Student will count in your AYP Participation and Performance Determinations • Students moving into your District after October 1, 2010 will count in your Participation Determinations • Students that are in your District on October 1, 2010 and move out of your District and move back in before March 25, 2011 will count in your Participation Determinations 12
