1. Be as resourceful as you can • Know your campus health center, office of the registrar, office of international student affairs, billing office, bookstore, eateries etc. • Attend orientations for new/international students • Consult/Be friends with departmental assistant(s)
2. Don’t be judgmental • A lot of times people just do things in different ways. Be an observer. Don’t be a judge.
3. Be adaptable • If things do not go as planned/expected, don’t waste your time being frustrated. Do something and figure out possible alternatives.
4. Get fully prepared when you have to deal with bureaucracy • Social Security Office, phone companies, banks, DMV • Patience • Full preparation
