Background Information • Kenya was picked to host the 2008 congress at the Union of Producers, Transporters and Distributors of Electric Power in Africa (UPDEA) Congress in Abidjan in 2005. • Preparations are currently underway • The Safari Park Hotel has been booked and confirmed as the most appropriate venue for this conference • The Congress is expected to attract up to 500 delegates & exhibitors

Safari Park Hotel 2008 Congress Venue • Set in 64 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, the Safari Park Hotel is 10 kilometres from the city centre. • Well-equipped conferences and meeting rooms. • An international conference centre that caters for 1,000 delegates, with the widest variety of meeting rooms in town. • State of the art lighting and communications (including simultaneous translation of up to 5 different languages), experienced staff, reliable equipment and conducive surroundings.

  4. Congress Preparation Update • Overall Programme has to be finalised as soon as all material is received from UPDEA headquarters. • Technical papers have been submitted and received at the Secretariat. • Review of received papers to be done by KenGen and Secretariat in Ouagadougou.
