  3. What is a Direct Object Pronoun? A direct object pronoun REPLACES a direct object. Examples: with D.O. with D.O. pronoun I write a letter.I write it. We see our teacher. We see him/her.

  4. What ARE the French D.O. pronouns? *meandtebecomemoiandtoiwhen used in affirmative commands.

  5. Where are they placed in the sentence? In English, pronouns are placed after the verb. In French, pronouns are placed BEFORE the verb. J’aimemonchien. J’aimemonchien(le) Je l’aime. (neg.: je nel’aimepas) Il a invitémesamis et moi. Il a invitémesamis et moi(nous) Il nous a invités. (neg.: ilnenous a pasinvités)

  6. Where are they placed in the sentence(2)? If there is an INFINITIVE, the pronoun is placed before THAT INFINITIVE. Je vais faire mes devoirs. Je vais faire mes devoirs (les) Je vaisles faire. Je veuxvoirPierre et toiaprès le cours. Je veuxvoirPierre et toiaprès le cours (vous) Je veuxvousvoir. PRACTICE!

  7. Where are they placed in the sentence(3)? EXCEPTION: In affirmative commands, the pronoun is placed AFTER the verb, and CONNECTED to it with a hyphen. Écoutez-moibien! Listen to me carefully! Regardons-le! Let’s watch it! Be careful! Negative commands are not part of this exception! Neleregardonspas! Let’s not watch it!
