  3. If any of you would like to play hide’n’seek with him you would need to look in… Freshwater ponds, streams, creeks, and lakes that have aquatic plants and algae.

  4. The life cycle Egg, nymph, adult. They molt, there life span is 1 year, and it takes six weeks to mature into adulthood from egg. The unfinished stages are similar to adult stage, and it is aquatic. They lay in the spring on underwater vegitation, the number is unknown.

  5. Size and pollution tolerance value The Water Boatman can grow up to 20 mm. in adulthood. Nymphs are about 5-15 mm. Pollution tolerance value is 5.6.

  6. Food Most are Herbivores, and they eat aquatic plants and algae. (they cannot bite) nymphs only eat algae. Others help control aquatic pests by eating mosquito larvae and small aquatic animals.

  7. Description Carry air bubbles to breath Mouthparts are like sucking tubes (in structure) Head and eyes are usually well made 3 pairs of jointed legs Legs are not similar, back-legs are made for swimming Wings are thick and leathery Swim with fast, jerking movements Swims on its back Found at water surface Light brown with big red eyes

  9. AKA Water Boatman, Greater Boatman. Nymphs are known as Lesser Boatman. (gets confused with backswimmers)
