Rethinking Energy Policy: Lessons from "Gashole" for a Sustainable Future

The film "Gashole" highlights the urgent need for a transformative approach to energy policy in the face of an impending oil shortage. This proposal advocates for a multi-faceted energy policy that prioritizes renewable energy, promotes fuel efficiency, and encourages community-led energy initiatives. Drawing on examples from the film and historical shifts in US energy policy, this paper explores how the industry has evolved since the 1960s and examines the role of fuel conservation technologies and potential collusion among oil companies. Through innovative solutions, we can create a sustainable energy future.
