  2. Definitions Push Factors: Conditions that drives people to leave a given area or location. Pull factors: Conditions that attract people to enter a given area or location. Push and pull factors paint a picture to discuss why people migrate

  3. Social Push and Pull Factors • Push: People feel as if they are not accepted in their home country. • Pull: People want to be near family that is already in another country.

  4. Economic Push and Pull Factors • Push: In the person’s home country the economy is bad and there are no jobs. • Pull: Another country has a policy that accepts migrant workers and the person feels pulled into the new country for work.

  5. Political Push and Pull Factors • Push: The person feels religious and/or political persecution in their home country. • Pull: The new country has a policy of acceptance of political asylum.
