  2. 21st Century Skills • Information and communication • Thinking and problem-solving • Interpersonal and self-direction skills • Global knowledge and understanding • Financial, economic and business literacy, and developing entrepreneurial skills to enhance workplace productivity and career options • Civic literacy

  3. Project Based Learning/Authentic Assessments • “Project Based Learning" (PBL) is student-centered curriculum that is inquiry-based, has real world applications, and incorporates higher order thinking skills. The intention of Project Based Learning is to facilitate deep learning that could be shared with a wide audience. Project Based Learning may be infused with technology but is not driven by it. The role of the teacher is facilitator or coach.

  4. Expectations for Student Learning • Expectations listed in the RMHS Mission Statement • Expectations were developed as a result of work completed with Partnership for 21st Century Skills • Expectations were grouped by faculty and formed in measurable statements by the “Rubrics Committee”

  5. School-Wide Rubrics • Rubrics developed to measure the Expectations for Student Learning by the “Rubrics Committee” • Rubrics provide a common language for teacher assessment and student self-assessment • Rubrics provide common language across disciplines

  6. Standard Based Report • Report sent to parents and students to measure students’ proficiency toward achieving the Expectations for Student Learning • Measurement based upon school-wide rubrics that provide common measurement of Expectations for Student Learning.

  7. Groundwork for Future Outcomes • Emphasis on student self-assessment • Common language to be used to review student work • Increase teacher collaboration • Increase consistency of expectations within and across disciplines • Increase collegiality through group work

  8. Why? • NEASC requirements • Movement of DOE • Change of frameworks • Emphasis on performance based assessments • Prepare students for global society • Assure common standards and language • Increase teacher collaboration
