What is the Community Partners Program (CPP)? • The CPP is a Federal Government funded initiative designed to make mainstream aged care services more accessible to elderly people from Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Backgrounds. • The program aims to achieve this by identifying the barriers that hinder CALD elderly from accessing aged care services. • Secondly, the program aims to identify solutions to breakdown these barriers & improve access to these services. • This is achieved by WORKING WITH BOTH SERVICE PROVIDERS & CALD elderly.

Quick Facts • The aged care system is a foreign concept for most ASME as many come from countries who don't have it. • Many ASME are reluctant to access services because they assume providers will not understand, respect or accommodate for their religion. • In Islam, physical contact between the opposite sexes is not permitted unless they are family. • It is desirable & highly respectful to call a middle age and elderly Muslim man “Hajj” & a middle age and elderly Muslim women “Hajjah”, either on its own or in addition to their names.
