  3. Judgment is Universal • For all nations • Amos 1:3, 6, 9, 11, 13; 2:1, 4, 6Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of ______, and for four

Judgment is Universal • Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. • Acts 2:38-39 …Repent, and be baptized…For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Judgment is Universal • Psalm 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God • Ecclesiastes 8:11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil • II Peter 3:3-10—judgment is still coming to all

Judgment is Universal • For all individuals • John 5:28-29 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

  8. Judgment is Universal • What ought our reaction to be? • Evangelism • Jude 22-23 And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. • Examination (II Corinthians 13:5; Mat.7:3-5)

  9. Judgment is Forewarned • Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. • Amos 4:6-12a …yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.

  10. Judgment is Forewarned • God has given us sufficient warning (Matthew 25) • 1-12the virgins knew the wedding feast was coming • 14-28the servants knew their master was returning Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh (13)

Judgment is Forewarned • II Peter 3:11-15 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat…

Judgment is Righteous • Amos 3:9-11, 4:11-12a; 5:1, 13, 16, 27; 6:7Therefore… • All of God’s actions were righteous reactions to Israel’s sins • Genesis 18:25 That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

Judgment is Righteous • Genesis 2:17a But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it… • Was God righteous in placing restrictions on them? • Genesis 2:17b …for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die • Was God righteous in connecting consequences to their disobedience?

  14. Judgment is Righteous • Genesis 3:16-19, 24 …I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception…and thy desire shall be to thy husband…cursed is the ground for thy sake…so He drove out the man • Was God righteous to carry out punishment against them?

  15. Judgment is coming! Revelation 20:12-13 …the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works Prepare to meet thy God
