  1. Pirelli Elect P Zero Tyres – Special Tyres for Electric Cars The Pirelli Elect P Zero tyres have been designed in such a way that they are able to suit the vehicle's features, built, balance and drive qualities. With the increasing number of electric cars in the world, the automobile industry is slowly being taken over by electric vehicles. Just like traditional cars are transforming themselves into electric four wheelers, their components are also getting transformed according to the changing needs. Tyres are one of the most important car components and the only source of contact between the car and the road. If a car is not equipped with the right set of tyres, then it will fail to give its best on the road and sometimes even results in accidents. Similarly, tyres for electric cars are different than regular tyres. Explicitly made to suit electric vehicles, the Pirelli Elect P Zero is Pirelli's tyres for setting itself up for the progressing change. Pirelli's head of strategic marketing, Matteo Battaini, commented on this by saying, “The change to electric cars is a reality and it is coming fast. We are reacting.” The change has not been a simple one. The Pirelli Elect P Zero, for instance, has been developed because of a few years of cooperation of the organization with the vehicle manufacturers. The Pirelli Elect P Zero tyres have been designed in such a way that they are able to suit the vehicle's features, built, balance and drive qualities. This is accomplished after an extensive time spent on innovative work. The role of R&D is very important in the development of electric car tyres. Normal tyres do not give as much output as required for electric cars. They tend to wear out soon when used in electric cars as they have much higher torque than the internal combustion engine vehicles, resulting in higher acceleration.

  2. For the production of these tyres, a softer rubber compound is used. Another difference in these tyres is the sidewall. Due to the battery weight at the floor of the vehicle, harder material on the sidewalls is utilized to enable the tyres to help the additional weight. Effectiveness additionally must be remembered and according to Battaini, an ideal EV tyre can expand the range of driving by as much as five to 10 per cent. Likewise, if a particular type of electric vehicle tyre is exchanged with that of a regular gas vehicle tyre, it will cut down the overall range of the vehicle. Another important factor to consider while developing these tyres is the sound that they would create while moving. Since electric cars are significantly quieter than internal combustion motor vehicles, the tire manufacturers need to ensure there is no sharp clamour or noise from the tires and to utilize dampers accordingly. Pirelli, for example, utilizes its own "Pirelli Noise Cancelling System" in the production of these tyres. Not just Pirelli, there are several other tyre makers as well that are adapting to the change. Continental and Goodyear are two of them. Battaini says that few development projects by Pirelli are in progress for as much as 50 distinctive electric vehicles. Others tyre manufacturers are also developing these tyres. Goodyear, for example, uncovered its 'EfficientGrip Performance' tires with Electric Drive Technology which lessen the wear from high torque. The company Continental Tires have also thought of its Conti.eContact.

  3. With all the significant tire organizations setting up their item lineup for electric vehicles, it won't take some time before these items are broadly accessible in the worldwide markets and have an unmistakable distinction from those utilized for the IC motor vehicles.
