When immigrating to the U.S., be aware of common scams that can jeopardize your chances. Scammers may operate fake websites resembling official U.S. government sites or charge for free government forms. Notarios, who are not lawyers, may also claim they can assist you, but they cannot provide legal help. To avoid scams, do not pay for immigration forms and seek guidance from reliable U.S. government resources. If you have been targeted by a scam, report it to the FTC at 1-877-382-4357 or visit ftc.gov/complaint for assistance.
