Thematic Maps • Thematic Maps – give information related to only one topic of an area. • Weather maps on the news • The train routes on the Light Rail in the Cities • Agriculture maps • Etc… • Thematic maps show both Physical and Human Features • You can tell what a map is about by looking at the title.

  6. Physical Features • Any natural characteristic of Earth • Landforms • Mountains, Plains, Plateaus, etc… • Bodies of water • Rivers, lakes, gulfs, seas, oceans, etc… • Climate – A pattern of weather over a long period of time • Vegetation – the plants that grow in an area

  7. Human Features • Population Density Map – A map of the average number of people who live in an area. (how crowded a place is) • Economic Activity Map – A map of what things are produced, bought and sold, and consumed. • May include natural resources • Oil, trees, coal, etc
