  2. Be able to explain the importance of cooperation between the United States and OPEC. OPEC is important to the American people because it determines the rate of petroleum production as well as the price of the product.

  3. What are some events that have contributed to an increase in population in areas? Transcontinental Railroad Rise in industrial Factories Growth of the Suburbs Immigration

  4. How have people continued to impact the physical environment? Transcontinental Railroad Rise of the industry in the late 1800’s Growth of the Suburbs after WWII ** All led to an increase in pollution

  5. Be able to identify examples of globalization that have increased international trade, but have had a negative impact on the U.S. economy. NAFTA and EU and the rising influence of China are all examples of globalization that have helped to increase international trade. They are also similar because they have had a negative impact on some industries and jobs in the United States.

  6. Be able to explain the importance of the Marshall Plan. The intent of the Marshall Plan was to help rebuild Europe after World War II

  7. Be able to explain how the defeat of the Taliban affected Iraq. Iraq now has free elections however, the fighting continues in the Middle East.

  8. Be able to compare and contrast how advances in technology have changed the way people have communicated over the past 50 years. Telephone, Internet, Cell Phones, Email, Mail, Video Chats, Video Phone Calls, Social Media, Twitter, Facebook, and etc.

  9. Be able to explain how culture has been exchanged between the U.S. and other countries. Be sure to address the following: Music, Fashion, Foods, Movies, and Sports US created jazz music which spread throughout the world Blue Jeans were created in the U.S. Fast food is “American” Country Music came from Ireland/Scotland There is no true American food- all of our food originated in other counties.

  10. Explain how the United States foreign policy has changed as we have entered the 21st century. After WWI and WWII, we fought communism -World Power and Containment After the fall of the Soviet Union, the U.S. has been fighting terrorism and pushing for peace, humanitarian aid, human rights and etc.
