POMORSKIE REGION PREPARING POMORSKIE FOR ACCESSION (3) OVERALL VIEW • Twinning Project 2001-2003 objectives: • - preparation of institutional, administrative and budgetarystructures in Pomorskie for the future participation in the EU economic and social cohesion policy • - enhancement of regional administration capacities with a view to participation in pre-accession and structural EU programmes and to elaborate an Objective 1 type regional operational programme • Actions taken: • - internal workshops • - study visits • - internships • - experts’ visits

POMORSKIE REGION PREPARING POMORSKIE FOR ACCESSION (5) OVERALL VIEW • Communications Action Plan (CAP): • - support, in terms of Communication, for management and administration of IROP so that the maximum impact of the Structural Funds in our region is achieved • Specific goals: • - to raise awareness of Structural Funds • - to attract a high number of applications • - supporting strong and wide partnership • - to ensure transparency of the process • Target groups: • - public • - beneficiaries • - stakeholders • Instruments: • - Local Leaders Net, Newsletter, website, publications, media coverage

POMORSKIE REGION PREPARING POMORSKIE FOR ACCESSION (6) OVERALL VIEW • Preparatory process results: • - 2000 individuals have received in depth training at regionaland local level • - 361 projects developed • - 50 projectscommented in detailsby experts from the UK • - administrative capacity sufficient extent • - Pomorskie as a one of the best regions in terms of quality and number of applications • - CAP regarded as a model of regional best practice by the Ministry of Economy and Labour • - excellent overall assessment of the Twinnig Project by European Commission
