June 11-12, 2013 NGAC Meeting • Leadership Dialogue • ExCom Roundtable • Review of Draft NSDI Strategic Plan • Geospatial Platform Subcommittee Report • Landsat Advisory Group Report • Geospatial Topic Updates/Lightning Sessions: • Transportation Data, Address Data, Health GIS, Flood Mapping Models, USDA Indian Country Land Title Mapping • Discussion – Future NGAC Study Topics

  3. Leadership/ExCom Dialogue • Informative discussion with FGDC Chair, Vice Chair and Executive Committee members • FGDC leadership provided valuable context for NGAC’s deliberations • NGAC members find great value in this collaborative approach and interaction

NSDI Strategic Plan Background • NGAC established subcommittee & workgroups to provide feedback and develop paper on key components of the NSDI Plan: • Vision, Roles & Responsibilities, External Trends • Subcommittee & workgroups met with FGDC core team on multiple occasions June NGAC Meeting • Extended discussion of draft NSDI plan and NGAC paper • Suggestions for improvement discussed and documented for next versions of plan

  5. NSDI Strategic Plan NGAC Actions/Decisions: • DECISION: The NGAC adopted the draft NGAC Strategic Plan Subcommittee paper in concept. The Subcommittee will make final changes to the paper based on the discussion at the June NGAC meeting. • ACTION: FGDC staff will summarize the comments and discussion from the NGAC on the draft NSDI Plan and distribute to the NGAC. • ACTION: The NGAC strategic plan subcommittee will work with the FGDC core team to provide additional feedback on the following components of the draft NSDI plan: 1) Strategic Goals & Objectives, and 2) Implementation section. • ACTION: The FGDC will address the feedback from the NGAC, as well as feedback from the FGDC community, in the next version of the NSDI Plan (Version 2).

  6. Geospatial Platform • NGAC has provided feedback throughout the development of the Geospatial Platform: • NGAC has adopted three recommendations supporting development of the Platform (June 2012, September 2010, October 2011) • NGAC has provided extensive comments on the Modernization Roadmap, Value Proposition, and Business Plan documents • June 2013 NGAC meeting: • Demonstration/discussion of Platform 2.0 • Summary of NGAC Platform subcommittee feedback on updated Platform site & functionality

Subcommittee Updates • Landsat Advisory Group • ACTION: The NGAC Landsat Advisory Group will develop draft papers addressing the Landsat study questions and provide an update at the September NGAC meeting. • A-16 Subcommittee • ACTION: The FGDC A-16 implementation team will meet with the NGAC A-16 subcommittee to brief them on the development of the A-16 implementation plan.

  8. Transportation/Address Data • The NGAC approved the following resolution: “The NGAC wishes to acknowledge the good work of USDOT in the Transportation for the Nation and MAP21 efforts to partner with Federal, State, local, and Tribal governments to create a single road and highway map for the Nation. We strongly recommend that this effort include the collection and integration of street address data with the Highway Performance Monitoring System linear referencing framework. This will dramatically reduce data compilation and management redundancy and enhance public safety.”

  9. Discussion – Future Study Topics • ACTION: NGAC members will develop proposed study questions for the following topics: • Geolocation Privacy • Education/Geospatial Workforce Development • Addressing The proposed study questions will be reviewed and refined by the FGDC community and will be discussed in further detail at the September NGAC meeting.
