  1. Paddle Tennis Created By Stephanie Gray

  2. Paddle Tennis Rules • Never walk on or behind another court while the point is being played.

  3. Tennis Rules • A ball that lands on the line is considered “in”.

  4. Serving • A player begins serving on the right side of the court and always serves diagonally.

  5. The Serve • The serve must be delivered in an underhand motion. • The ball is served from the service line. • The ball must land in the service court diagonally across from the server.

  6. The Serve • Each server serves for 5 points. • After each serve the server must alternate sides to serve to a different receiver.

  7. The Serve • A ball hitting the net, but goes over is a let and can be replayed. • A ball going out of bounds or hits the net without going over is a fault.

  8. The Game • After the service the ball is hit back and forth across the net (rally) until it is missed, goes into the net, or hits outside the court lines. The game is played until 1 team reaches 15 points. (must win by 2).

  9. The Game • The ball may be hit only once on each side. • The ball may only bounce 1 time. • After the serve you may hit the ball before it bounces. (volley) • The ball may hit the net in a rally.

  10. Strokes • Forehand Stroke – ball on racquet side, swing parallel to the ground • Backhand Stoke – ball to non-racquet hand side, step into swing

  11. Strokes • Top Spin – when the ball is hit and rotates toward the net • Backspin – slice - when the ball rotates counterclockwise over the net

  12. Strokes • Cross-court – shot taken that crosses the court • Down the line – shot right on the edge of the sideline

  13. Strategy • Court position – one player covers the entire backcourt and one covers the entire forecourt or play side to side. Call “mine” on each shot. • If the ball is coming down the center line, the left person usually takes it with a forehand stroke. • Play to your opponents weaknesses.

  14. Kastner Safety Rules • For safety reasons: NEVER jump over the short fences that divide the tennis courts • Never jump over the nets on the court
